High-voltage wires

A high-voltage part of system of ignition concern along with the coil of ignition and the distributor – about them already there was a speech – as well high-voltage wires, tips of wires with помехоподавляющим the resistor and, of course, spark plugs.

The thick connecting wires passing from the coil of ignition to the distributor or from the distributor to spark plugs (to model with the 6-cylinder engine without the distributor), usually do not deliver any efforts. They should be densely inserted the tips with помехоподавляющими resistors (noise elimination for radio) into nests of a cover of the distributor of ignition. Them штекерные connections should not be oxidised, and they should have a good contact to tips of spark plugs.

If high-voltage wires became rigid and fragile, it is necessary to establish the new. For the 6-cylinder engine they can be bought complete with both tips.

For 4 and 5-cylinder engines you need to get necessary for you отрез a multiwire flexible copper high-voltage wire and brass plugs concerning here for the cable ends in shop of spare parts. To squeeze brass plugs on the cable ends, to put on tips of spark plugs and tips with помехоподавляющими resistors before fixing, it is ready.

 The help: "not tight" places in high-voltage wires can be noticed if to glance at night at the working engine in a motor compartment. Then the sparks of ignition slipping on a cable are well visible. The weak light patches of light "running" on a cable, on the contrary, are absolutely harmless.

Tips of candles, tips with помехоподавляющими resistors

  • In Audi it is possible to apply only certain tips of spark plugs. Suitable tips should have own resistance 4—6 clod.
  • The same concerns and tips with помехоподавляющими the resistors established on connections of the distributor and the coil of ignition. Their own resistance should make 0,6—1,4 clod.
  • Бегунок the ignition distributor also should have defined помехоподавляющий the resistor 0,6—1,4 clod. It is designated by an inscription «R1».

 The help: if the engine constantly or from time to time (at damp weather) works not on all cylinders, it can be quite often connected with faulty tips of spark plugs. There there is a spark leak through изоляционный a material between a metal cover and a high-voltage electrode. Otherwise on a candle tip in most cases it is impossible to define, whether it "punches". For check replace a tip of a candle with another. The help on the journey: remove the metal screen of the tip.

Ignition order

High-voltage wires of the distributor of ignition incorporate to candles according to an ignition order. Figures show, to what cylinder (an account method: in front back) the corresponding wire should be brought. At the left the 4-cylinder engine, on the right – 5-cylinder is represented.

For equal work of the engine cylinders, for example the 4-cylinder engine, light not as 1 – 2 – 3 – 4, and in a sense words randomly. According to an ignition order high-voltage wires are brought to a cover of the distributor of ignition. If бегунок the distributor at the removed cover of the distributor and the removed dustproof cover shows on a mark on the brink of the distributor case, means, the cylinder 1 (what ahead of all the others in a movement direction) is in the ignition moment. It is a starting point at putting on of wires.

The ignition order (operating procedure of cylinders) in our engines is that:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. The 4-cylinder engine: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2, бегунок the distributor rotates to the right (clockwise).
  2. The 5-cylinder engine: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 – 3, бегунок the distributor rotates to the right (clockwise).
  3. The 6-cylinder engine: 1 – 4 – 3 – 6 – 2 – 5. The distributor is absent – the order of connections of wires of a high voltage to a package of coils of ignition corresponds to an order of cylinders. An example: the high-voltage wire from connection behind on the right conducts to the cylinder behind on the right.
