14.1.2. Purchase of the old car or a mysterious set of figures and letters

THE GENERAL DATA

The third part of code VIN consists of 8 figures or the letters designating a serial number of a vehicle. The first sign consisting of the letter of the Latin alphabet, specifies in a year of release of a vehicle.

For example, identification number of the car VAZ-21013 has a following designation: XTA 210130D00000002, where X – a geographical zone (Russia), Т – the manufacturer code number (And – VAZ, In – АЗЛК etc.), 210130 – model or updating, D – year of release (1983), 00000002 – serial industrial number.

For a designation of year of release of vehicles following letters are established: D – 1983, E – 1984, F – 1985, G – 1986, H – 1987, J – 1988, K – 1989, L – 1990, M – 1991–1992, P – 1993, R – 1994, S – 1995, T – 1996, V – 1997, W – 1998, X – 1999, Y – 2000.

In a line of the log "Colour of a body (cabin)" visually defined colour in which the vehicle is painted is underlined: white, red, yellow, green, dark blue, brown, black, multi-colour etc.

In line "the full name of colour of a body (cabin)" is underlined the enamel name on manufacturer marks.

At change of colour of a vehicle in the passport corresponding record is made.

There is a weight of ways of falsification and forging of documents. In practice interrupt (and accordingly bring in the document), as a rule, one figure in number. But to tell on popular edition pages about technology subtleties it is represented inexpedient. And hardly the person who for the first time has taken in hands the document, can reveal forgery and pay attention to discrepancies. Therefore car check on stealing in GAI not only verification of numbers with the computer data, but also check of documents is represented to the most reasonable. And still at visual survey of numbers on the car and documents is advised to pay attention on:

 – Conformity of fonts and their inclinations;
 – оответствие and sequence of terms and dates in records;
 – Absence of erasures and infringements of a protective grid;
 – Readership of prints of the seals.

Especially sharply this question costs concerning documents on the cars which have arrived from Poland and Baltic.
