10.11. Adjustment of a manual brake
PERFORMANCE ORDER
Cars with back drum-type brakes
The prevention

Cable (cables) adjustment on the cars equipped with back drum-type brakes, is necessary only after cable replacement, or after a detachment of a cable from a back brake for any reason. If the car is not kept by a manual brake usually it specifies or in deterioration brake колодок, or on malfunction of the mechanism of adjustment of a backlash between колодками and drums.


1. Lift a back part of the car and establish on supports.
2. Completely lower the lever of a manual brake, then some times press a brake pedal.
3. Lift the lever of a manual brake upwards on five clicks.
4. Equally tighten or weaken adjusting nuts until then while back Pads will concern hardly a brake drum. And you should feel that wheels rotate with identical resistance.
5. Release a manual brake and be convinced that wheels freely rotate. Otherwise adjustment repeat.
Cars with back disk brakes
The prevention

On cars with back disk brakes the mechanism of self-regulation of a backlash between колодками and drums is absent. Therefore, to compensate deterioration колодок, the manual brake is required to be regulated periodically. Adjustment also should be spent every time after replacement or removal of a cable, a brake disk, or the mechanism of a manual brake in gathering for any reasons.


6. Slowly lift the lever of a manual brake, count up quantity of clicks. If the lever can be lifted above the eighth adjust a cable of a manual brake as it is described more low.
7. Remove a cover of a manual brake. On some cars removal of the central section (tray) can be necessary for access to the mechanism of a manual brake.
8. Release on one bolt on each back wheel. Lift the car and establish on supports.
9. Turn away each released bolt. Highlighting a small lamp, turn a wheel until then while in an aperture for a bolt you will not see a regulator cogwheel.
10. Rotating a regulator wheel on hour or counter-clockwise, dissolve brake Pads so that they have concerned a brake drum. Take away Pads so that wheels freely rotated (on 3 or 4 teeth on a regulator).
The prevention

If the regulator cogwheel is hardly turned, remove wheels and a brake disk, then grease a regulator and repeat adjustment.


11. After installation of a disk three times include a manual brake, then slowly lift the lever of a manual brake upwards before the fifth click. Equally rotating adjusting nuts achieve, that Pads hardly touched drums and that wheels rotated with identical resistance.
12. Release a manual brake and check up that back wheels freely rotate.
13. Tighten bolts of wheels with the set moment.
