10.2. An automatic transmission

THE GENERAL DATA

On cars the automatic transmission of General Motors is established. The transmission provides inclusion of three transfers of a forward course, transfer of a backing and compulsory inclusion of a hill-climbing gear. The differential and the main transfer are located in картере transmissions.

The twisting moment from the engine to a transmission is transferred through the hydrotransformer which carries out function of liquid coupling and operates as automatic coupling, and also provides twisting moment transfer at acceleration. Twisting moment transfer between transmission gear wheels is carried out by chain transfer and a hydraulic drive which operates gear wheels, couplings and brakes, depending on speed and loading. Because the transmission works in enough severe conditions, absolute cleanliness is necessary for normal work of a transmission.
