1.24. Economy of fuel
THE GENERAL DATA

Engine warming up

"Full gas" or engine warming up idling promote the strengthened deterioration of the engine and increase of the expense of fuel.

After engine start at once to get under way from a place. To warm up the engine on average frequencies of rotation of a shaft of the engine.

Uniform speed

The driving turbulent character promotes substantial growth of the expense of fuel.

Avoid unnecessary processes of acceleration and braking.

As it is possible go by last transfer is more often, during movement in a city often already at speed of 50 km/h it is possible to include 4th transfer.

At speed from 50 to 80 km/h the expense on 4th transfer approximately on 25 % is less than fuel, than on 3.

At speed from 70 to 90 km/h the expense on 5th transfer approximately on 15 % is less than fuel, than on 4th.

Switch as soon as possible to the following transfer, and on bottom only when already there is no faultless course of the engine.

Idling

The engine consumes fuel and idling.

Already during stops more the engine makes sense to stop than 1 minutes. Five minutes of work of the engine idling corresponds to one kilometre of a way.

Mode of compulsory idling

During a mode of compulsory idling fuel giving is automatically disconnected, for example, during movement under a bias or at braking.

During this mode "not increase speed" and not to switch off coupling that the system of switching-off of giving of fuel for reduction of the expense of fuel has worked.

In due time switch transfers

High values of frequency of rotation of a shaft of the engine increase deterioration of knots of the car and the fuel expense.

Do not lead up frequency of rotation to high values. Too high speed on separate transfers or steps increases deterioration of knots of the car and the fuel expense.

Management under tachometre indications helps to save fuel. Try to operate on each transfer the car at small frequencies of rotation of a shaft of the engine (approximately between 2000 and 3000 rpm) and with uniform speed.

High speed

The above speed of movement, the above the fuel expense. At movement "on full gas" you spend a lot of fuel.

Insignificant отпускание to an accelerator pedal leads to considerable economy of fuel without considerable reduction of speed.

If you go with the speed equal only 3/4 maximum, you save, without considerable losses in time, to 50 % of fuel.

Pressure of air in tyres

Pressure of air in tyres below norm results because of resistance increase качения in increase of expenses for increase in the expense of fuel and at the raised deterioration of tyres.

Additional consumers

Inclusion of additional consumers of capacity raises the fuel expense.

It is necessary to disconnect additional consumers (the conditioner, warmed back glass, additional headlights etc.) if their work is not required.

Automatic transmission

"Full gas", кикдаун, the choice of a sports mode and excessive manual switching of steps lead to sharp increase of the expense of fuel.

After choice D the transmission works in an economic mode. It is possible to go by step D practically always, by smooth pressing an accelerator pedal there is an early switching on transfers to the economical expense.

Luggage carrier on a roof, holders for skis

Luggage carrier on a roof, holders for skis can raise the fuel expense approximately on 1 l/100 of km at the expense of the raised resistance of air. It is recommended to remove them if they are not used.
