1.1.5. Keys for the car equipped with an immobilizer

THE GENERAL DATA

Label with number of a series of keys

Store a label with number of a series of keys in a safe place (for example in a wallet), to store label in car is not supposed. If you suddenly lose keys, or the duplicate under number on their label can make in car-care centre "BMW" service is required to you. It is possible to put also a copy of number of keys together with own documents.

The car is completed with two keys

The basic key (black colour) – approaches to all locks. This key is necessary for service of car-care centre "BMW" for manufacturing of a new key with the built in microcircuit of a radio beacon (транспондера). The spare key (usually grey colour) – approaches to all locks except the lock of a cover of a luggage carrier.

The radio beacon microcircuit is built in heads of the basic and spare keys (транспондера) from which works the lock. Therefore, at all do not lose keys. If you make own duplicate cannot cause operation of security system or start the engine.

For protection of the things locked in a luggage carrier at a car parking leave a spare key to the accompanying person.

Always keep around the duplicate of the basic key on a case of unforeseen lock-out of keys in the car at захлопывании doors and a luggage carrier cover.

The prevention

Observe following rules of precaution at using keys with the built in microcircuit.

1. At engine start the finding of a ringlet of a key on a head is not supposed, it is forbidden to turn a key for a ringlet, and also to press a ringlet on a key head. Otherwise the engine can not be started, or after start-up to decay.

2. At start of the engine keys with the built in microcircuit should not adjoin with each other (and also to keys from other car). Do not press to a key head in the ignition lock other keys flatwise. Otherwise the engine can not be started, or after start-up to decay.

3. It is forbidden to bend a key head.

4. It is forbidden to cover a head of a key with the materials reflecting electromagnetic waves.

5. It is forbidden to subject a key to impacts with other subjects.

6. Do not subject a key to long influence of the raised temperature, for example influence of direct solar beams at a key finding on the panel of devices, or on a cowl.

7. Contact of a key to water or washing in ultrasonic cleaning installation is not supposed.

8. It is not supposed to use a key together with the materials possessing expressed electromagnetic properties.

Immobilizer system (recognition of a code of start-up of the engine)

The immobilizer is anticreeping system. When the ignition key is inserted into the lock a radio beacon microcircuit develops the coded signal which is perceived by anticreeping system of the car. The engine will be started only in the event that the transmitted coded signal completely will coincide with an identification code of the car.

When the key gets from the ignition lock there is an automatic installation of an identification code. When the key of the given car is inserted into the ignition lock, the transferred code cancels action of the anticreeping system interfering start of the engine.

Number of a key and the basic key is necessary for manufacturing of a new key in car-care centre "BMW". It is necessary to remember that there is a limit on quantity of keys which can make in car-care centre "BMW".

The self-made duplicate it is impossible to disconnect anticreeping system and to start the engine.

Lock-out of a door by a key

For door lock-out turn a key towards a forward part of the car, for unlocking – to its back part. On the cars equipped with the electric drive of door-locks all doors of salon and a back door (only in bodies the versatile person) open and locked simultaneously with a door from outside the driver.

For door lock-out press the button, for door unlocking wring out the button.

If necessary to lock a door, being outside, press the button then slam a door. At door closing it is necessary to keep the door handle in the pressed position. At захлопывании a door do not forget to take away from salon keys.
