Check and adjustment of geometry of a suspension bracket

The general information, order of performance of procedure

 Before to start measurement of corners of installation of wheels check up pressure of a rating of tyres, balancing of wheels, degree of deterioration of spherical support, tips of steering draughts and wheel bearings, a condition of components of a suspension bracket and a steering drive. Make necessary updatings, replace the failed components.


Corners of installation of wheels define geometry of position of the last concerning a suspension bracket of the car and a road covering. Infringement of adjustment of this geometry conducts to decrease in controllability of the car and increase of speed of deterioration of tyres. The number of the parametres subject to the control defining geometry of a suspension bracket of the car includes height of a road gleam, disorder (forward and back wheels), a corner of a longitudinal inclination of an axis of turn of a wheel, or выбег (forward wheels), rotary corners (forward wheels), convergence (forward and back wheels) and a corner of a course deviation (back wheels).

Following parametres are subject to adjustment only: disorder of forward wheels, a rotary corner, convergence (forward and back wheels) and a corner of a course deviation.

Check/adjustment is made in a following order: a road gleam (forward and back wheels) — disorder (forward and back wheels) — corners of a longitudinal inclination of axes of turn of wheels (forward wheels) — rotary corners of forward wheels — convergence of forward wheels — convergence of back wheels — a corner of a course deviation (back wheels).

Adjustment of corners of installation of wheels is among demanding special accuracy of measurement of procedures for which qualitative performance presence of special, enough bulky and expensive equipment is necessary. Performance of the given work will charge most correctly to professional mechanics of car-care centre.

Road gleam

Before to start adjustments of corners of installation of wheels it is necessary to check up correctness of adjustment of a road gleam of the car.

Tyre out the car on an equal horizontal platform with a firm covering, establish forward wheels in rectilinear position, then прокатите the car forward an order of 5 metres усадки suspension bracket components.

Make sure of completeness of refuelling of a fuel tank, check up car loading, - in a luggage space there should be only запаска, a jack and a standard tooling.

Check up correctness of a rating of tyres.

Disorder

 


As disorder is called the angle of slope of a plane of a wheel concerning a vertical. If wheels are inclined by upper edges outside, disorder is called as positive, and on the contrary. The disorder size is measured in degrees. Correctness of adjustment of disorder defines size and position of a stain of contact of protectors with road and allows to compensate changes in geometry the suspension brackets occurring during fulfilment of turns and at movement of the car on a rough road covering. Check of disorder of wheels is made at the special measuring stand.

Loosen the самоконтрящиеся nuts of two bolts of fastening of the bottom support of a rack.

Disorder adjustment is made by rotation of the top bolt of fastening of the bottom support of a rack, - the bolt has эксцентриковую a head that allows to change a rack angle of slope.

For increase in disorder of the right wheel the adjusting bolt should be rotated clockwise, the left wheel - counter-clockwise, for reduction - on the contrary. Bolt turn on one division of a scale corresponds to disorder change approximately on 0°10 '.

Having finished adjustment, tighten fixture with demanded effort (175 Nanometers).

 Самоконтрящиеся nuts are subject to replacement without fail!


Disorder of back wheels

Disorder of back wheels is not subject to adjustment.

The deviation of disorder of back wheels from rating value (Specifications see) demands check of geometry of a frame of the car. The probability of damage of cross-section levers of a back suspension bracket, and also deterioration of racks, screw springs and резинометаллических plugs is not excluded also.

Corner of a longitudinal inclination of an axis of turn of a wheel (выбег)

Выбегом the corner of a longitudinal inclination of an axis of turn of a forward wheel, i.e., a corner of a deviation of the given axis from a vertical in a plane of a wheel disk is called. If the turn axis is inclined back, выбег is called as positive, on the contrary.

 By analogy, a cross-section corner an inclination of an axis of turn of a wheel name a corner of a deviation imagined шкворня from a vertical in a plane, perpendicular ДП the car.


Check выбега wheels is made at the special measuring stand.

Выбег to adjustment is not subject and in case of a deviation of results of check from requirements of Specifications it is necessary to check up a condition of a frame of the car and elements of a forward suspension bracket (levers, spherical support, plugs).

Rotary corners

As rotary corners of wheels are called internal and external angles of rotation of operated wheels of the car concerning rectilinear position at the steering wheel turned out against the stop.

Adjustment of rotary corners

If results of check fall outside the limits admissible ranges (Specifications see), adjustment of rotary corners can be made by pulling up/otpuskanija of tips of steering draughts.


Having finished adjustment, check up correctness of installation of convergence of wheels (see more low), make sure that protective covers of hinges of power shafts are not overwound and tighten counternuts of tips of draughts with demanded effort (83 Nanometers).

Convergence

As convergence is called the data size to each other forward edges of wheels of the car. Such infringement of parallelism of installation of wheels allows to minimise deterioration of a protector at the expense of prevention юза at fulfilment of turns. At zero convergence distance between forward edges of wheels to equally distance between their back edges. Normal convergence usually does not exceed inch shares (1 inch = 2.54 sm). Adjustment of convergence of forward wheels

Check up correctness of a rating of tyres.

Check up correctness of installation of height of a road gleam (see above).

Develop forward wheels of the car in rectilinear position and block a steering column.

Loosen the counternuts of tips of both steering draughts.

Convergence adjustment is carried out by rotation of bars of draughts in tips in a corresponding direction, - both draughts it is necessary to turn strictly on an identical corner!

Having finished adjustment, tighten counternuts of tips of draughts with demanded effort (83 Nanometers), - track, that protective covers of SHRUS of power shafts have not appeared are overwound.

Adjustment of convergence of back wheels

Loosen the самоконтрящуюся a nut of an adjusting bolt from the interior of the back cross-section lever of a suspension bracket.

For increase in a convergence of the right wheel the adjusting bolt should be rotated against an hour hand, the left wheel - on an hour hand, for reduction - on the contrary. Simultaneous turn of adjusting bolts of both wheels on one division of a scale corresponds to convergence change approximately on 3 mm.

Having finished adjustment, tighten counternuts with demanded effort (120 Nanometers).

Corner of a course deviation

At an angle a course deviation the corner of a deviation of a diametrical plane (ДП) the car from a course direction of movement is understood.

The corner of a course deviation is obliged by the formation to infringement of uniformity of corners of a convergence of back wheels.

For check of a corner of a course deviation tyre out the car on an equal horizontal platform with a firm covering, establish forward wheels in rectilinear position, then прокатите the car forward an order of 5 metres. Also measure distance «L» between the central lines of the traces left forward and back wheels. If the result of measurement exceeds limiting admissible value (Specifications see), make corresponding adjustment (see more low).

Adjustment of a corner of a course deviation

Adjustment is made by alignment of corners of convergence of both back. Simultaneous turn of adjusting bolts of both wheels on one division of a scale corresponds to convergence change approximately on 0°10 ' (7.5 mm of distance «L»).
