Features of driving with a manual box of a gear change

The general information

 At movement on road with a slippery covering intensive braking by the engine or unduly sharp dispersal can lead to control loss over the car and, - as result, - to emergency collision. Extra care observe at movement on road with a covering, not providing due coupling with car wheels.

The gear change scheme is shown on an illustration. For maintenance of smooth and unaccented switching all transfers of a forward course are synchronised. On many models in a transmission the blocking device which excludes possibility of direct switching from the fifth transfer on backing transfer is provided. At transmission switchings "upwards" (on the higher steps) or "downwards" (on the lowest steps) completely squeeze out coupling. After transfer of the lever of switching of a transmission in position of the following transfer smoothly release a coupling pedal. During movement to the chosen transfer completely remove a foot from a pedal of coupling in order to avoid premature deterioration of components of the mechanism of the last.

Include backing transfer only after a full stop of the car. Attempt include a backspacing on the move can to lead to serious damage of a transmission. Before reverse gear inclusion completely switch off coupling and sustain short (in some seconds) a pause.

 Instead of a pause it is possible to make short inclusion of one of forward transfers. The described receptions of inclusion of a backing allow to prevent shock inclusion of a reverse gear because of residual rotation of gear wheels.

For car delay it is possible to take advantage of braking by the engine, having switched a transmission to one of the lowered steps. Braking by the engine allows to supervise speed of movement of the car at safe level and prevents an overheat of brake mechanisms at movement on long descents with a considerable bias. Switch a transmission to the lowered steps consistently, in process of decrease in speed not to admit excess of as much as possible admissible frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft of the engine on a tachometre. The arrow of a tachometre should not come into a red zone of a scale. In all cases

The recommended moments of a gear change

Try to move on as much as possible high transfer providing in concrete road conditions normal functioning of the engine at uniform movement and possibility of smooth dispersal of the car. Following of this recommendation will provide high profitability of the car and effective work of system of neutralisation of the fulfilled gases. As much as possible admissible speeds of movement of the car on various transfers

In Specifications the maximum admissible speeds of movement of the car on various transfers are resulted. At excess of the specified values of speed, the marksman of a tachometre will come into a red zone of a scale, specifying on it is inadmissible high frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft of the engine. Thus the electronic block of a control system starts to limit to the engine turns of a cranked shaft, reducing fuel giving that it is possible to feel it on power setting change. Engine work is normalised, as soon as the arrow of a tachometre leaves a red zone of a scale.

In order to avoid engine breakage before transfer switching, be convinced that the arrow of a tachometre does not exceed as much as possible admissible speed of movement on the given transfer and is not in a red zone of a scale.

Two-level reducer

The lever of switching of a two-level reducer is located to the left of the lever of a drive of a lay brake, behind the gear change lever.

Position НI of a reducer is intended for movement in normal conditions.

At movement in cross-country conditions, and also in mountain district when development большего a twisting moment is required, it is necessary to switch a reducer in position LO. It is recommended to use mode LO at трогании from a place uphill.

For switching of a two-level reducer in another it is necessary to squeeze out of one mode against the stop a pedal of coupling and to release gas. If the switching lever is got jammed in intermediate between НI and LO position, make sure of completeness отпускания pedals of gas/squeezing of a pedal of coupling, then repeat attempt.
