Check of a condition and replacement of a belt of a drive of auxiliary units

THROUGH EACH 20 000 KM (12 000 MILES) RUN

Exact adjustment of a tension drive can achieve a belt only with application of special tool Citroyon SEEM 4122. In the section text the description of a way of approximate adjustment (at the first possibility the car should be driven away on a car repair shop where correctness of installation can be checked up with application of the special equipment) is resulted.

On all models one belt of a drive of auxiliary units is provided established. On the models which have been not equipped with the conditioner of air, the belt is used for a drive of the steering pump and the generator. Adjustment of a tension of a belt here is made manually. On models with К/В the same belt the compressor of the conditioner which is established from above on the generator is put in action also. In this case adjustment is carried out automatically after manual installation of a roller automatic натяжителя.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Prop up противооткатными boots back wheels, поддомкратьте redock of the car and establish it on props. Remove the right forward wheel.

2. In a wheel arch remove with подзора a plastic cover, having provided with that access to the right wall of the power unit.



3. Turning the engine for a bolt of a pulley of a cranked shaft by means of a face key with a suitable drive, attentively examine auxiliary приводной a belt on all its length. Pay attention to defects of type of cracks, stratifications and attritions. Presence заполированных to shine of sites is not admissible also. The defective or worn out belt is subject to replacement.
4. If the belt condition is found satisfactory, make adjustment of effort of its tension (except equipped К/В models where it is provided automatic натяжитель).

Removal, installation and tension adjustment (models without air conditioner)

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If yet have not done it, execute the procedures described in "Check", subitem 2-3.
2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

3. Loosen the fixing and adjusting bolts of an arm of a tension roller (one of fixing bolts is located in the central part of the roller, the second below on an arm).



4. Against the stop tighten an adjusting bolt and remove a belt from pulleys.

5. Check up freedom of rotation of a tension roller.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. In case of need replacement performance, track, that the new belt without fail corresponded on a standard size failed. Throw with a new belt pulleys and choose its weak point by a tightening of an adjusting bolt.
2. Now it is possible to start tension adjustment (see further).

Tension adjustment

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If yet have not done it, execute the procedures described in "Check", subitem 2-3.

2. Observance of correctness of adjustment of effort of a tension drive a belt is pledge of duration of term of its service. The too poorly tense belt usually starts to whistle. Remember also that excessively strong натягивание a belt leads to overloads and premature deterioration of bearings of the generator.
3. The belt should be tense so that at firm нажимании on it a thumb on a site in the middle between the most remote from each other pulleys the deflection size made about 5 mm (the remark in the section beginning see).
4. Updating of a tension of a belt is made by rotation of an adjusting bolt. Having achieved satisfactory result, some times turn a cranked shaft, then repeat check. Strongly tighten fixing / adjusting bolts.
5. Connect a negative wire to the battery.
6. Establish into place a plastic cover подзора a wing and the right forward wheel, then lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel bolts.

Removal and installation (the models equipped with the conditioner of air)

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If yet have not done it, execute the procedures described in "Check", subitem 2-3.

2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
3. Loosen the adjusting/fixing bolts of an arm of a tension roller (one of fixing bolts is located in the central part of the pulley, the second - below on an arm).

4. Turn out an adjusting bolt so that there was a possibility to pass a metal core in an aperture in a back part of an arm натяжителя. The core end should be bent under 90 . The Main task is fixing of a roller automatic натяжителя at belt replacement.

5. Against the stop tighten a bolt of manual adjustment.
6. Turn out a bolt from the bottom part of compressor K/V and shift aside a plastic cover.
7. Throw off a belt from pulleys (the Scheme of a lining of a belt of a drive of auxiliary units see the diesel models equipped К/В) an illustration.
8. Check up freedom of rotation of both tension rollers.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure that the replaceable belt corresponds failed on the standard size. Throw with a new belt pulleys, having tracked correctness of hit of edges in streams.
2. Turn out a bolt of manual adjustment, having achieved such tension of a belt at which the core can be freely taken from an aperture in an arm. After extraction of a core the demanded tension of a belt will be established automatically.
3. Tighten adjusting/fixing bolts of an arm of a tension roller (do not forget about a bolt located in the central part of a roller).
4. Screw a bolt of fastening of a plastic cover in the bottom part of compressor K/V and strongly tighten it.
5. Connect a negative wire to the battery.
6. Establish into place a plastic cover подзора a wing and the right forward wheel, then lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel bolts with demanded effort.
