Check of a condition of batteries of traditional type and the batteries requiring the minimum service

At insignificant mid-annual run of the car to check relative density of electrolit of the battery for the purpose of definition of level of its charge there is enough time in three months. Measurement is made by means of standard ареометра (ask in shops of automobile accessories). Results of check should be compared to the data resulted below the table. Pay attention that for standard value of temperature of electrolit value in 15°С is accepted. Thus, on everyone 10°С temperature lowerings more low реперной points, it is necessary to subtract size from the indication of density of electrolit 0.007. Temperature excess on everyone 10°С above basic value demands addition to result of measurement of the same size (0.007).

At a suspicious condition of the battery first of all check up electrolit density in each of it банок. The difference in results of the measurements, exceeding size 0.040, specifies in falling of level of electrolit or destruction ламелей.

In the presence of the stipulated difference in relative density of electrolit in various banks the battery is subject to replacement. Otherwise charge level can be restored (see more low in the given section).

Check of a condition of batteries not requiring service

If your car is completed by the battery of tight type not requiring service, necessity for regular addition of electrolit for banks disappears. Level of a charge of the battery can be defined on the indicator built in its case or by means of the voltmeter.

For a complete set of some cars batteries of type not requiring service “Delco” are used. Such batteries are equipped by the built in indicator of level of a charge. The indicator is located on the top plane of the case of the battery and changes the colour depending on level of a charge of the battery. Green colour of a stain in an indicator observation port testifies to high level of a charge. Stain dimness (up to black colour) speaks about necessity of performance of gymnastics. Light yellow colouring of the indicator signals about excessive decrease in level of electrolit - in this case the further use of the battery is inadmissible and its replacement is required.

If for check of level of a charge the voltmeter is used, connect it between polar plugs of the battery. Result of measurement compare to requirements of Specifications. It is possible to consider the read instruments authentic only in the event that measurement was made after not less than 6 hours after performance of last gymnastics. Otherwise it is necessary to include approximately for 30 seconds head headlights of the car, then to wait about five minutes and only after that to start removal of indications (do not forget to switch off a headlight). All other onboard consumers of the electric power during check performance also should be switched off (track, that all doors of the car, including a back door) have been densely closed.

If the result of measurement makes more low 12.2 In, hence the battery is discharged. The range from 12.2 In to 12.4 In corresponds to normal level of a charge of the battery.
