1. Failure of the water pump is capable to cause the most serious consequences, up to full jamming of the engine as a result of an overheat. The defective pump is subject to replacement.
2. Warm up the engine to normal working temperature and, without suppressing it, compress a hand the top hose of a radiator, - if at release a hose in it the liquid push is distinctly felt, hence, the water pump functions regularly.

Try not to touch with hands to крыльчатке fans!

3. The water pump is usually equipped by a control/ventilating aperture. In case of failure of an epiploon from an aperture the cooling liquid starts to exude. Prepare a pocket small lamp and a small pocket mirror, - the aperture is located from below on the pump case, is direct under an assemblage axis. Presence round an aperture of adjournment of brownish colour testifies to malfunction of an epiploon, - easy decolouration of a surface (a ring of light grey colour) should not cause anxiety.
4. At failure of bearings of a shaft of the pump in an engine operating time in its forward part there can be a howling sound which should not be confused to the whistle published приводным by a belt at easing of effort of its tension. Deterioration of the bearing can be revealed on presence люфта at rocking of a nave/shaft of the pump (do not forget to switch off before the engine and to throw off from a pulley a belt).
5. Even in the absence of external signs of deterioration the definitive conclusion about a condition of the water pump can be made only after its removal and more detailed studying.

2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

4. Remove protection картера.
5. Empty system of cooling and disconnect electroconducting from the main and auxiliary fans (the Section Check of serviceability of functioning, removal, service and installation of fans of system of cooling see).

6. Disconnect from assemblage of the water pump a final hose of a radiator and a heater hose.

7. Remove an air inlet (see Has undressed Service of components of an inlet air path).
8. Remove переливной a hose (the Section Check of serviceability of functioning, removal, service and installation of fans of system of cooling see).
9. Remove a broad tank (the Section Check of a condition of a cover of a radiator see).
10. Remove assemblages of the main and auxiliary fans of system of cooling (the Section Check of serviceability of functioning, removal, service and installation of fans of system of cooling see).
11. Remove belts of a drive of auxiliary units (Routine maintenance see the Head).
12. Remove газораспределительный a belt (the Engine see the Head).

13. Remove automatic натяжитель a belt.

14. Remove an intermediate cogwheel № 2.

15. By means of special key ST 499207100 remove a cogwheel of the left camshaft.

16. Remove left (№ 2) section of a back cover газораспределительного a belt.

17. Remove a basic arm натяжителя.

18. Disconnect from the water pump a heater hose.

19. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the water pump.

1. Make sure of smoothness of rotation of the bearing of pump assemblage.
2. Estimate a condition drive pump wheels.

3. Rotating приводное a wheel, with the help циферблатного a measuring instrument плунжерного type define size radial люфта a rotor in a persistent direction.

4. Щупом лезвийного type measure size of a backlash of landing of a rotor in the case. Rating value 0.5 ч 0.7 mm Limiting admissible value: 1.0 mm

5. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications. In case of need make replacement of pump assemblage.

3. Remove a belt of a drive of auxiliary units (Routine maintenance see the Head).
4. Remove a forward cover газораспределительной chains (the Engine see the Head).
5. Remove газораспределительную a chain (the Engine see the Head).

6. Turn out fixing bolts and remove pump assemblage.

1. Make sure of smoothness of rotation of the bearing of pump assemblage.
2. Estimate a condition приводной pump asterisks.

Installation is made upside-down. Bolts of fastening of the pump are tightened with effort of 6.4 Nanometers. Do not forget to replace sealing rings, - for the purpose of simplification of process of installation of the pump grease new sealing rings with a cooling liquid.
