System of antiblocking of brakes (ABS) - the general information

ABS enters into a standard complete set of some models, on others can be established in addition.

The system provides modulation of hydraulic pressure in the brake contours, preventing premature blocking of wheels of the car. Each of car wheels is equipped by the gauge of frequency of rotation on which signals the block of management ABS defines the moment of the beginning of blocking of a corresponding wheel. Special electromagnetic valves are included in hydraulic contours of each of brake mechanisms. The same valves are built in in assemblage of hydraulic modulator ABS. For modulator functioning the electronic block of management (ECU) systems on which commands necessary updating of hydraulic pressure in supports of the brake mechanisms is made answers, allowing to avoid premature blocking of wheels and to achieve peak efficiency of braking of the car.

ECU ABS it is equipped by the built in block of self-diagnostics fixing any refusals of system and compatible to special electronic scanner with which help experts of a car repair shop make reading brought in memory of the block of the information of refusals in system.

The design and principle of functioning of antiblocking system on cars Citroyon Xantia differ nothing from usual ABS, applied on all other vehicles.
