4.1.5. Adjustment of backlashes of valves
THE GENERAL DATA

Adjustment of backlashes of valves is necessary for making on the engine, heated-up to normal working temperature. If adjustment of backlashes of valves is carried out after major repairs on the cold engine it is necessary to make repeated adjustment of valves after engine installation in the car and its warming up to normal working temperature.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the air filter.
2. Mark and remove from spark plugs high-voltage wires.
3. Disconnect a ventilation hose картера from a cover of a head of the block of cylinders.
4. Unscrew four bolts and uncover heads of the block of cylinders.
5. For a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a cranked shaft turn a cranked shaft of the engine in such position that the piston of the first cylinder was in the top dead point in a compression step. It can be checked up, having unscrewed a spark plug of the first cylinder and having closed an aperture for a candle a finger.
6. At approach of the piston of the first cylinder to ВМТ in a step of compression the finger will feel pressure. Also it can be checked up, having uncovered the distributor of ignition and having checked up an arrangement of a rotor of the distributor of ignition. The rotor should be directed on contact of a high-voltage wire of the first cylinder on a cover. Also thus the label on a pulley of a cranked shaft should be combined with the index on a cover (it is shown by an arrow).
7. At engine installation in this position it is possible to adjust клапанные backlashes on following valves, considering from a mechanism drive timing: 1st – final, 2nd – inlet, 3rd – inlet, 5th – final.
8. Turn a cranked shaft of the engine on one complete revolution and adjust клапанные backlashes on following valves: 4th – final, 6-6 - inlet, 7th – inlet, 8th – final.
9. Check клапанного a backlash carry out an edge probeа. For adjustment rotate a lock nut коромысла before very dense moving of an edge probeа.
10. Also probably to check up and regulate клапанные backlashes on the working engine. It is carried out in the same way, but on moving valves. Thus it is necessary to screw in a spark plug of the first cylinder and to establish on it a high-voltage wire. For reduction разбрызгивания oils establish картонку between pushers коромысел and an end face of a head of the block of cylinders.
11. After adjustment remove all traces of an old lining from an interfaced surface of a head of the block of cylinders and, if necessary, replace a lining of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders.
12. Establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders and fix its bolts with washers.
13. Screw in a spark plug, connect to it a high-voltage wire and establish into place a ventilation hose картера and the air filter.
