4.2.19. Removal and engine installation

Engine removal can be made together with a transmission or without a transmission, leaving it on a place. Look also the corresponding description in subsection 4.1.18.

Engine removal can be made together with an automatic transmission, but it is not recommended in connection with the big weight of the engine together with an automatic transmission.


1. Disconnect positive and negative plugs from the accumulator. Remove a cowl.
2. Remove the air filter.
3. Merge cooling liquid from cooling system. Disconnect all hoses of system of cooling from the engine, including hoses of a heater and hoses of heating of the carburettor.
4. Disconnect a cable of an accelerator and a cable of management air заслонкой.
5. Disconnect a vacuum hose of the vacuum amplifier of brakes from an inlet collector. Remove a hose completely or fix it so that it has not been damaged at engine removal.
6. Disconnect and close stoppers submitting and returnable fuel hoses.
7. Disconnect an electric socket of a plait of wires of the engine.
8. At presence disconnect an electric socket of the gauge probeа for level measurement.
9. Disconnect high-voltage wires and low voltage wires, and also a multicontact socket from the coil of ignition and the management block.
10. Loosen the a coupling bolt also disconnect draught of management of a transmission.
11. Disconnect a cable of a drive of a speedometer from a transmission.
12. Disconnect a coupling cable.
13. Loosen the bolts of fastening of forward wheels, then lift a forward part of the car and fix on supports. Remove forward wheels.
14. Unscrew bolts and disconnect a reception exhaust pipe from a final collector. Disconnect the tyre of grounding from a transmission.
15. At presence disconnect hoses of an oil radiator from a casing of the oil filter.
16. Disconnect spherical hinges of the bottom levers from rotary fists.
17. Disconnect power shafts from картера the main transfer. Close apertures for power shafts suitable stoppers. Using a soft wire, tie up the internal ends of power shafts to a body.
18. Hook on the engine slings of the load-lifting mechanism and raise so that the engine and transmission weight was perceived by the load-lifting mechanism.
19. Unscrew support of the power unit from a body (the arrangement of the left support of the power unit is shown in drawing at the left, the right support – on the right).
20. Being careful and if necessary turning, lower the engine downwards from a motor compartment. For extraction of the engine from under the car, probably, it is necessary to raise the car.
21. Separate a transmission from the engine. Unscrew bolts of fastening of a starter and the bottom protective cover of a flywheel. Unscrew bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine and, moving a transmission from the engine, remove it. At transmission removal be careful, that it did not hang on entrance to a coupling shaft.


1. After engine installation in a motor compartment tighten bolts of fastening of support of the power unit in a following order:
      – The right forward support;
      – The left forward support;
      – A back support.
2. The further installation is made in sequence, return to removal. Check up oil level in a transmission and, if necessary, finish it to norm.
