The general information

The geometry of a suspension bracket and steering drive of the car is defined by four base installations: disorder, corners longitudinal (выбег) and a cross-section inclination of an axis of turn of a wheel and convergence. All parametres are expressed in angular sizes (convergence can also will be defined in millimetres). Convergence of forward wheels of the car concerns number of parametres subject to adjustment only.

As disorder is called the corner on which planes of wheels are rejected from a vertical. Disorder is called as positive when upper edges of wheels are rejected from a vertical outside. Otherwise speak about negative disorder.

As corner of a longitudinal inclination of an axis of turn of a wheel is called the corner on which the axis of turn of a wheel is rejected from a vertical in a disk plane. The corner is considered positive when the axis is inclined by the top end back.

As corner of a cross-section inclination of an axis of turn of a wheel is called the corner, between a vertical and the imagined line spent through support of a rack of a suspension bracket at a sight at the car in front or behind.

As convergence is called the size on which distances between forward and back edges of an inside of rims of disks of wheels differ. At positive convergence back edges of disks are placed more widely, than lobbies, and on the contrary.

Check and adjustment of convergence of forward wheels

Exact measurement of convergence can be made only with application of the special precision equipment and demands from the executor of enough high qualification that is why its performance should be left to experts of car-care centre. The check described more low should be considered only as estimated.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check of convergence of forward wheels is made by measurement of distances between forward and back internal edges of rims of wheel disks and subtraction from the second result of the first. Necessary updating can be carried out at the expense of a vvorachivanija/reversing of tips of steering draughts for the purpose of change of length of the last.
2. Exact check of installation of convergence is made at net weight of the car, i.e. the salon and a luggage space should be unloaded, and the fuel tank is completely filled. Besides, in the correct image the height of a road gleam (Check of installation and adjustment of a road gleam see) preliminary should be adjusted.
3. Before to start to measurements make sure that wheels and tyres correspond on the типоразмерным to characteristics to requirements of Specifications. Check up pressure of a rating of tyres. Estimate degree of deterioration of a protector, size of palpation of wheels, a condition ступичных bearings and components of a forward suspension bracket. Make necessary corrections.
4. Park the car on an equal horizontal platform, whenever possible with a firm covering. Result forward wheels in rectilinear position, then serially shake a back and redock for усадки suspension brackets. Release a lay brake and roll away the car back on 1 m, then forward for the purpose of removal of pressure from suspension bracket components.
5. Measure distance between forward edges of internal rims of wheels, then between their back edges. Subtract from result of the second measurement result of the first and compare the received value to requirements of Specifications.
6. If necessity for updating carrying out takes place, prop up противооткатными boots back wheels, then поддомкратьте redock of the car and establish it on props. Turn a steering wheel to the left against the stop, then count and write down quantity of the bared coils of a carving of a tip of the left steering draught. Now turn a steering wheel to the right against the stop and repeat check for the right draught. If on both draughts the same quantity of coils of a carving is bared, from both parties of the car identical updatings should be made. If on one of draughts of the bared coils it is more, such asymmetry should be eliminated in the course of adjustment.

On termination of adjustment the quantity of the bared coils of a carving on both draughts should appear strictly identical!

7. Clean a carving on the ends of steering draughts, having removed from coils corrosion traces, in case of need moisten a carving with getting oil. Release external collars and unbend protective covers. Slightly grease an internal surface of covers in avoidance перекручивания them at rotation of draughts.

8. Mark position of a bar of the first draught in relation to its tip, then keeping a bar from проворачивания рожковым a key, completely turn away a counternut. Repeat procedure for the second draught.

9. Adjust in appropriate way length of draughts (the prevention resulted above) see. Remember that reduction of length of draughts conducts to decrease in size to convergence/increase in size of a divergence.
10. Having achieved satisfactory result, strongly tighten counternuts of tips of steering draughts. Make sure of correctness of landing of spherical fingers in the nests and similarity of quantity of the bared coils of a carving (in case of need repeat adjustment). If length of draughts to leave unequal, inevitably there will be problems with steering wheel centering.
11. Having adjusted draughts for identical length, lower the car on the earth and repeat convergence check. In case of need repeat adjustment. Having achieved satisfactory result, strongly tighten counternuts of tips of steering draughts. Track reliability of landing of protective covers of tips, make sure that covers are not overwound, then fix their new collars.
