The general information
The given part of the Head engine Repair is devoted procedures of repair of petrol engines of series XU, not connected with extraction of the unit from the car (in situ). If the engine is already removed and prepared for dismantling for the purpose of performance of the general major repairs (Removal and engine major repairs see), all preparatory procedures mentioned more low can be lowered.
Despite basic possibility of performance in situ repair of such components as shatunno-piston assemblages, it is necessary to remember that this sort of works are accompanied always by set of additional procedures (without speaking about necessity of carrying out of cleaning of components and маслотоков). In view of told, such works are classified as procedure of the general major repairs of the engine and Removal and engine major repairs where the detailed description of procedures of removal and installation of the power unit also is resulted are considered in section.
Petrol engines of series XU - the general description
Perfectly proved throughout enough long term well-known in the world engines of series XU are used for a complete set of a wide spectrum of models of cars of mark Citroёn. Units XU concern family рядных 4-cylinder engines and are established cross-section in a forward part of the car. Coupling and transmission assemblages fasten in the left part of the unit.
The cranked shaft is planted in five radical bearings. Supervising axial люфт a shaft persistent washers are established in a cover of the second radical bearing.
Shatunno-piston assemblages rotate on the cutting bearings of sliding equipped with two loose leaves placed in their bottom heads. For fastening of pistons metal fingers are used planted внатяг in the top heads of rods. Pistons are made of an aluminium alloy and equipped everyone by three piston rings - two компрессионными and one маслосъемным.
On models 1.6 and 1.8 l are used the block of cylinders of "wet" type equipped with sleeves. Actually the block is cast from aluminium, in nests of its cylinders pig-iron sleeves at the top are filled. In the basis of each sleeve the sealing rings preventing leaving of the cooling liquid in the pallet картера are provided.
L models 2.0 are completed with traditional engines of "dry" type. In this case the block is made of pig-iron moulding, landing in which cylinders of separate sleeves is not provided.
The camshaft drive on all models is carried out from a cranked shaft by means of зубчатоременной transfers. Under each of эксцентриковых camshaft cams the individual pusher through which the drive of eight valves of chambers of combustion is carried out is established. Installation клапанных backlashes is carried out by selection of the adjusting washers established between pushers and end faces of cores of valves. The camshaft rotates in the bearings, which covers приболчены to the top plane of a head of cylinders. Closing both inlet, and final valves is carried out by means of screw springs. The course of valves is supervised запрессованными in a head of cylinders by directing plugs which (as well as saddles of valves) are among dismantled components and in case of deterioration are subject to replacement in an individual order.
The drive of the block of cylinders of the water pump established on the right party is carried out from газораспределительного a belt.
The internal pressure in greasing system is created by the oil pump put in action from the right end of a cranked shaft by means of chain transfer. The pump soaks up oil through the mesh filter from the pallet of a crater of the engine, and then banishes it through replaceable полнопоточный the oil filter and submits to internal galleries of the block of cylinders/kartera of the engine. On galleries oil arrives to cranked (radical bearings) and distributive to shaft. To шатунным to bearings of a cranked shaft it is forced through special drillings in a shaft body. In bearings of a camshaft oil moves also under pressure. Greasing of cams of a camshaft and valves, no less than other internal components of the engine, is carried out by разбрызгивания oils. On some of l models 2.0 it is provided special маслоохладитель, allowing to maintain temperature some engine oil at the set level in the most intense service conditions of a vehicle. Маслоохладитель it is established behind the oil filter, as a working body in it the liquid of system of cooling of the engine is used.
In the course of the description of many of maintenance service procedures there is a necessity for division of engines not only on their working volume, but also on an identification code. The engine code is formed by three letters of the Latin alphabet (for example, LFZ). On models 1.6 and 1.8 l the engine code is beaten out on шильде, the left wall of the block of cylinders fixed in a forward part. On models 2.0 of l the code is beaten out directly on a forward wall of the block, on specially pierced platform to the left of the oil filter (near to the union of a hose of system of ventilation картера).
