Subaru Legacy/Outback

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
2. On 6-cylinder models remove воздухоприемную the chamber (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
3. On 4-cylinder models remove the case of an air cleaner with a basic arm (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
4. Disconnect from a starter electroconducting.

5. Give a fixing bolt and a nut and remove a starter from a transmission dome.
6. Installation is made upside-down. Tighten bolts of fastening of a starter with demanded effort (50 Nanometers).

2. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the traction relay from a starter in assemblage with плунжером and плунжерной a spring.
3. Turn out coupling bolts and fastening screws щеткодержателя, then remove a back cover of a starter and щеткодержатель.
4. Take from статора an anchor and муфту. Remove established in a face part of anchor assemblage a ball, - try not to drop it.

The anchor has considerable weight! Before removal муфты mark its position concerning a forward cover!

5. Remove a sealant (A), three planetary gear wheels and a plate.
6. Remove a shaft in gathering with обгонной муфтой, - try to remember adjusting position of lever assemblage.
7. Remove обгонную муфту from a shaft for what, slightly tapping with the suitable tool on an emphasis, remove it from a ring, then take a lock ring, an emphasis and remove муфту from a shaft.

8. Slightly slightly open metal заслонку, keeping изоляторную a plate in щеткодержателе. Now a brush with a spring can be easily removed. A — ShChetkoderzhatel B — Izoljatsionnaja a plate C — Metal заслонка

9. Assemblage is spent upside-down.
10. At installation of assemblage of a shaft in a forward cover pay attention to following moments:

a) a lever Direction;
b) Position of internal transfer;
c) Position of consolidations.
11. At installation муфты in a forward cover combine apertures under bolts.

12. At installation of a back cover combine щеткодержатель with a groove муфты.

13. Track, that all components have been established on the regular places. The components listed more low grease with greasing of type Esso Beacon 325 Shell Alvania Grease RA:

a) Forward and back bearings;
b) the Gear wheel of a shaft of an anchor;
c) the Surface плунжера;
d) a lever Surface;
e) Grooves of a shaft of a gear wheel;
f) the Surface of the lever and обгонной муфты;
g) the Ball at an end face of a shaft of an anchor;
h) Internal components of planetary transfer.
14. Having finished assemblage, make sure of correctness of functioning of a starter.

1. Measure residual length of coal brushes, - if the result of measurement makes less than 7.0 mm (rating value = 12.3 mm), brushes are subject to replacement.
2 Check up smoothness of a course of brushes in holders.
3. Make sure of absence of conductivity between щеткодержателем and its plate.
4. Measure developed щеточными by springs effort. If the result of measurement makes less than 5.9 Н, replace the holder.

2. Connect the positive plug of the battery to a conclusion «S» the traction relay, and negative - to the starter case. The gear wheel should be displaced on a shaft axis, and the starter can sometimes be scrolled.
3. Disconnect a wire from a conclusion "M" and connect to a conclusion the positive plug of the battery, the negative plug of the battery is connected again to the starter case, - the gear wheel should return to a starting position even if it has been put forward by means of a screw-driver.

4. Again put forward a gear wheel in extreme position and measure a backlash between it and the assemblage case. Compare result of measurement to requirements of Specifications. If necessary pick up the necessary number of adjusting washers on the end of the traction relay. A — the Gear wheel B — the Backlash C — the Stopper
