Check of serviceability of functioning of system of ignition

4-cylinder models

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

 Whereas in systems of direct ignition the high voltage is developed very much, service of its components should be made with extra care! The given remark concerns not only the basic knots of electronic system of ignition, but also and to all accompanying components, including tips of candle wires, a tachometre and the other diagnostic equipment.

1. If the engine is turned, but not started, disconnect ВВ a wire from one of spark plugs of the left number of cylinders and connect it to the special calibrated tester of ignition (ask in shops of automobile accessories). At absence near at hand a universal tester, track, that the applied measuring instrument suited use in systems DIS.

 Check is made only for candles of the right number of cylinders (cylinders №№ 1 and 3), - as in system the principle of a single spark is used, necessity for check of pair cylinders disappears.

2. Connect a contact clip of a measuring instrument to a bolt or a metal arm on the block of the power unit, then turn the engine, - between an electrode and the tester case well distinguishable spark of is bright-blue colour (weak intensity of a spark should be considered as its absence) should slip.
3. Presence искрообразования confirms serviceability of giving of pressure on candles ВВ, however does not exclude probability of refusal actually candles.
4. If infringement искрообразования takes place, check up serviceability of giving of a food on the coil. Check up a condition of coils (see Has undressed Removal, installation and check of a condition of the module (to it) ignitions) and gauges of position cranked (CKP) and distributive (CMP) shaft (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
5. Also check up serviceability of giving of alarm pressure on bobbin assemblage. Having disconnected from assemblage electroconducting, connect 12-voltnuju a lamp-sampler to the positive plug of the battery. Attention: use only a lamp-sampler on a light-emitting diode Is supposed! Ask the assistant to turn the engine, then on a blinking of the coil of a lamp connected to a socket make sure of serviceability of giving of alarm pressure. Repeat procedure for each of bobbin assemblages. The remark: As the module of ignition and ЕСМ are among expensive components, it will be reasonable to charge performance of check of their condition to experts of car-care centre.


6-cylinder models

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. For serviceability check искрообразования remove from spark plugs bobbin modules. Without turning out a candle, plant in the module of the first cylinder a new spark plug, bring it to weight of the engine and, turning the engine at completely open throttle заслонке, make sure of serviceability of generation of a spark. Operating in a similar manner, check up bobbin modules of the remained cylinders. At serviceable искрообразовании in all cylinders check up serviceability of functioning of the fuel pump (see the Head of the Power supply system and release). In case any of modules does not provide delivery ВВ of pressure of sufficient size (искрообразование it is broken), address to the following paragraph.
2. Switch off ignition and disconnect electroconducting from the corresponding bobbin module, then turn the ignition key in position «ON» and measure pressure between the plug № 3 sockets of bobbin assemblage (E31, E32, E33, E34, E45 or E46 accordingly) and weight of the engine. If the result of measurement makes more than 10 In, address to the following paragraph. Otherwise find and eliminate breakage in an electroconducting chain on a site between the bobbin module and the ignition switch, check up also a condition of contact plugs in connecting sockets.
3. Switch off ignition and measure resistance between the plug № 2 sockets of bobbin assemblage (E31, E32, E33, E34, E45 or E46, accordingly) and weight of the engine. If the result of measurement makes less than 5 Ohm, address to the following paragraph. Otherwise find and eliminate breakage in an electroconducting chain on a site between the bobbin module and the plug of grounding of the engine.
4. Disconnect electroconducting from ECM and from checked bobbin assemblage and measure resistance between the plug №1 sockets of the coil (E31, E32, E33, E34, E45 or E46) and the plug № 24, 23, 22, 21, 20 or 19, accordingly, socket ECM (В136). If the result of measurement makes less than 1 Ohm, address to the following paragraph. Otherwise find and eliminate breakage in an electroconducting chain on a site between the bobbin module and ECM.
5. Measure resistance between plugs №№ 24, 23, 22, 21, 20 and 19 sockets ECM (В136) and weight of the engine. If the result of measurement makes more than 1 МОм, address to the following paragraph, otherwise eliminate short circuit on weight in an electroconducting chain on site ECM and bobbin assemblage.
6. Connect electroconducting to bobbin assemblage, then, check up synchronism of level of pressure between contacts № 1 (+) a socket of the bobbin module (E31, E32, E33, E34, E45 or E46) and weight of the engine (-) to turns of a turned cranked shaft. If the absolute size of the measured pressure exceeds 10 In, address to the following paragraph. Otherwise replace bobbin assemblage.
7. Check up quality of contact connections in socket ECM (В136). Make necessary corrections. If the socket is perfectly in order, check up a condition of a chain of the fuel pump (see the Head of the Power supply system and release).
