 Remember that developed at functioning of brake mechanisms the dust can contain extremely unhealthy the person asbestos. At all do not blow off a dust the compressed air and do not inhale it, at service of mechanisms put on a protective mask or a respirator. At all do not use for rubbing of components of brake system gasoline or solvents on an oil basis - apply only firm cleaners or methyl spirit! Try колодок to use at replacement only components not containing asbestos.

1. The condition of components of brake system, besides regular, stipulated by the Schedule of routine maintenance, checks, should be estimated each time at removal of wheels or at occurrence of signs of infringement of functioning of system. Check of a condition of brake lines (each 50 000 km [30 000 miles] run or times in 24 months)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Examine all brake lines on presence of signs of damages, deterioration, destruction as a result of ageing of a material, traces of leaks, bends, twisting and other deformations, to the person attention giving to places of connection of flexible hoses to supports / to wheel cylinders of brake mechanisms. Check up reliability of fastening of hoses collars.

 In case of need take advantage of a mirror.

2. Make sure that any of brake hoses systems of release of the fulfilled gases or a suspension bracket (do not adjoin to acute angles of the components of a body located in the neighbourhood, at any positions of a steering wheel). In case of need make corresponding repair or correct a route of a lining of lines. Defective components replace (the Brake system) see the Head.
3. Study on presence of signs of development of leaks/corrosion and mechanical damages of surface ГТЦ, wheel cylinders and the valve of management of pressure. Replace defective components.


Disk brake mechanisms of forward and back wheels (each 25 000 km [15 000 miles] run or times in 12 months)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The support of each of brake mechanisms is equipped by two колодками, - internal and external. End faces колодок are well looked through through special observation ports in the case of a support after wheel removal.

2. The estimation of a residual thickness колодок is made visually through the observation ports mentioned above. If frictional overlays are worn out over an admissible limit, it is necessary to make complex replacement brake колодок.

5. By a micrometer measure a thickness of brake disks, then define size of their lateral palpation in a point located not further 5 mm from external edge. Compare results of measurements to standard requirements (Specifications see). If the thickness or size of lateral palpation any leaves disks abroad an admissible range, replace it (the Brake system see the Head). If a thickness of a disk in norm, check up its general condition. Pay attention to such defects as deep scratches, furrows, teases, overheat traces, etc., in case of need remove a disk and give it in проточку (the Brake system see the Head). The worn out or deformed spring clamps колодок also are subject to replacement.

 Replacement brake колодок should be made in the complete set for both wheels of one axis of the car!


Drum-type brake mechanisms (only models 2001) (each 50 000 km [30 000 miles] run or times in 24 months)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The scheme of an arrangement of components of the drum-type brake mechanism are presented on an illustration.
2. Remove brake drums (the Brake system see the Head).

3. Make careful cleaning of brake mechanisms with application of special cleaning structure.

 At all do not blow off a brake dust from a surface of components the compressed air and do not inhale it is a dust can contain asbestos harmful to your health!

Estimate a residual thickness of frictional overlays of brake boots (forward and back), check up components on presence of traces of pollution by a brake liquid and oil. If the frictional overlay acts over heads of rivets less than on 1.6 mm, boots are subject to replacement in the complete set for brake mechanisms of both wheels (the Brake system see the Head). It is necessary to replace boots also in case of revealing of cracks, заполированных to shine of sites of overlays, or traces of hit of a brake liquid.

4. Make sure of correctness of connection and serviceability of a condition of all springs of assemblage of the brake mechanism (the Brake system see the Head). The neglect replacement of the deformed or weakened springs is fraught with premature deterioration of boots as a result «прихватывания» brakes.

5. Check up assemblage components on presence of traces of leaks of a brake liquid. Cautiously having hooked a finger or a small screw-driver, remove rubber dusterи from the wheel cylinder, located holding apart the top ends of boots. Revealing of any signs of leaks in these parts demands carrying out of immediate regenerative repair of assemblage of the cylinder (the Brake system see the Head). Also check up on presence of traces of leaks all brake hoses and them штуцерные connections.

6. Carefully wipe internal surfaces of a drum the pure rags impregnated with methyl spirit. Try not to inhale a brake dust containing asbestos. Examine a working surface of a drum on presence of cracks, задиров, traces of an overheat and other damages. If defects cannot be removed by processing of a surface by a fine-grained emery paper, it is necessary to give a drum for проточки to a car-care centre workshop, or to replace (the Brake system) see the Head. Measure internal diameter of a drum.

7. Repeat procedure for components of the opposite brake mechanism. Establish into place drums, fix wheels and lower the car on the earth. Tighten wheel nuts with demanded effort.

 Adjustment of the basic drum-type brake mechanisms is made automatically.


Adjustments of a pedal of a foot brake (each 50 000 km [30 000 miles] run or times in 24 months)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Measure size of a free wheeling of a pedal of a foot brake by pressing it with effort hardly less than 1 кГс. Compare result of measurement to requirements of Specifications, in case of need make corresponding updating (see further).
2. Muffle the engine and, some times having squeezed out a pedal of a foot brake, completely dump residual depression in the servo-driver of the vacuum amplifier.
3. The cutting finger of a pusher of the vacuum amplifier of brakes should have люфт connections to the pedal lever.
4. Press a hand on колодку pedals of a foot brake.
5. At absence люфта a cutting finger make updating of landing of the gauge-switch of stoplights, having provided between an adjusting nut and a persistent washer a backlash of an order of 0.3 mm.

6. Measure size of a reserve course of a pedal of a foot brake for what start the engine, press a pedal with effort of an order 50 кГс and measure distance from Pads pedals to a bottom edge of a rim of a steering wheel. Then release a pedal and repeat measurement. The size of a reserve course of a pedal is defined by subtraction result of the second measurement from result of the first measurement and should not exceed value in 95 mm. The excessive size of a reserve course of a pedal of a foot brake usually is a consequence of hit in a hydraulic path of air. If this size is more, probably, in the hydraulic module there is air, - pump over brake system (the Section Replacement of a brake liquid/prorolling of a hydraulic path see).

7. During a short trip check up serviceability of functioning of brake system, - at braking on an equal horizontal covering the vehicle should keep course stability.


The vacuum amplifier (each 50 000 km [30 000 miles] run or times in 24 months)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check of serviceability of functioning of the vacuum amplifier of brakes is made from a driver's place.
2. At the switched off engine some times squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake with identical effort and make sure that the size of its course has ceased to change (residual depression is dumped).
3. At completely squeezed out pedal of a foot brake start the engine, - the pedal should fail a little more.
4. At the working engine some times squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake, - the size of a course of a pedal should remain invariable.
5. Squeeze out a pedal, muffle the engine and continue to keep a pedal pressed during about 30 seconds during which it should not neither fail more low, nor rise.
6. Again start the engine, allow to it to work for about a minute, then again muffle. Again some times firmly squeeze out a pedal, - the course size should be reduced with everyone качком.
7. Check up serviceability of functioning of the amplifier of the control valve built in a vacuum hose. Disconnect a hose and blow in it from outside servo-driver assemblages, - the valve should pass freely air towards the engine. Blow in a hose from the opposite end, - the valve should block section through passage. In case of need replace a hose in gathering with the valve.

 At installation of a hose pay attention to its marks: the party of assemblage turned to the engine is marked by an inscription «ENGINE».

8. Direct air stream to the end of a vacuum hose from outside the amplifier of brakes. Air should leaves the hose end from outside the engine. Then direct air stream to the end of a vacuum hose from outside the engine. Air should not leaves the hose end from outside the amplifier of brakes. If it does not occur, replace the vacuum valve together with a hose. The end шлага from outside the engine has marks «ENGINE».

9. Check up a hose on presence of cracks and other damages, track density of its landing on unions. Attention: At installation of a vacuum hose do not moisten unions with any greasing or soap water!


Lay brake (back disk brake) (each 25 000 km [15 000 miles] run or times in 12 months)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check frictional overlays of boots and drums of both lay brake mechanisms simultaneously.

2. Examine brake boots on presence of deformations and mechanical damages. Measure a thickness of brake overlays.

3. Examine a working surface of a drum on presence of cracks, задиров, traces of an overheat and other damages. If defects cannot be removed by processing of a surface by a fine-grained emery paper, it is necessary to give a drum for проточки to a car-care centre workshop, or to replace (the Brake system) see the Head. Measure internal diameter of brake drums.

4. If a tension of a coupling spring ослабло, replace it, - do not mix the bottom and top springs.


Adjustment

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. For adjustment of a lay brake pump over a brake path and remove back rubber заглушку, established with the back party of a brake board.

2. By means of a screw-driver with a flat sting develop a wheel of a regulator flat upwards against the stop, then return it back on 3-4 teeth and establish into place rubber заглушку.
